Phobias and fears
The word “phobia” originates from a god ofancient Greece Phobos the god of Fear.
There are countless definitions of phobia, but the most apt one defines a phobia as “a fear of a fear”. Perhaps, more accurately, a phobia may be described as “an extreme reaction to fear triggered by a stimulus”.Phobias are very common. One in nine people have a phobia of some sort – more than eleven per cent of the population. And one in twenty people have panic attacks at some stage in their lives, quite commonly triggered by a phobia.
There is little that conventional medical science can do for your phobia, other than prescribing an antidepressant drug. Hypnosis, on the other hand, can in most cases, eliminate or alleviate the phobia. I usually regress the client in hypnosis to the original event that caused the phobia, and then I “desensitize” the phobia by making them experience that event again, but in circumstances where they are dissociated from the actual trauma of the event. Then I change or re-frame that event so that the client no longer has that fear.

Hypnosis can be a very helpful tool in the treatment of sexual problems including premature ejaculation and impotence. The first thing to do if you are suffering from impotence is to speak to a medically trained professional and have physical causes ruled out. If the cause appears to be stress or anxiety related then a course of hypnotherapy could be very helpful.
There is so often a major psychological component to premature ejaculation that hypnosis is a commonly used technique to help stop it happening. Psychological impotence is another sexual problem that is highly amenable to hypnotic intervention.
Both these sexual problems have significant performance anxiety associations that get in the way of normal sexual functioning. Hypnosis can be used to ‘re-train’ the brain to allow sex to progress as it should.

Hypnotherapy is now acknowledged within the wider medical profession as an evidenced-based therapy that can help reduce the symptoms of IBS, and sometimes alleviate those symptoms entirely. The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) also lists hypnotherapy as one of the treatments to help with IBS.
We know that IBS can be exacerbated by anxiety or stress, and that the subsequent worry about the IBS can perpetuate the effects. Hypnotherapy can be very effective for treating obsessive compulsive disorder ( OCD). I use it in conjunction with cognitive behavioral therapy. CBT looks at how you think and how this affects what you do. I encourage you to explore alternative ways of responding to the obsessional thoughts or doubts.
All your coping strategies such as arranging, washing, checking, writing lists, tapping, touching, repeating, or perhaps cleaning, have come about in the first place to make you feel safer and less anxious. In fact they do the exact opposite: they make you feel unsafe and scared. Hypnotherapy can be very effective for anger management. Hypnotherapy for anger management can help take the pressure off you in terms of controlling your anger consciously. Anger can come about for a variety of reasons. Perhaps there is something that you are not being able to communicate, and that is causing frustration.
